Our Mission
Substance Use Disorder Treatment for Women (Project REWARD)

Family & Children’s Agency offers Project REWARD, an outpatient substance use disorder recovery and mental health program for women. Through Project REWARD, a continuum of care is offered, including an Intensive Outpatient Program and a variety of outpatient treatment options. The program is designed to meet the specific needs of women in recovery and to provide the support and safety that an all-women’s program can ensure. Women who participate in the Project REWARD program receive:

  • Transportation provided for participants living in: Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport, Weston, and Wilton
  • HUSKY accepted
Evaluation and Assessment

Women who are referred to Project REWARD will meet privately with a clinician for a comprehensive substance use and mental health evaluation to determine if treatment is recommended and the appropriate level of care. Other services include:

  • Treatment recommendations and referrals
  • Medication management (if needed)
  • Early intervention and engagement
  • Drug and alcohol screens
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

This level of care is for women who are actively using substances or are new in recovery.  Participants receive individual weekly sessions with their clinician, drug and alcohol screens, medication management, case management, and psychiatric evaluation as needed in addition to joining the IOP group sessions. To reduce barriers to treatment, transportation is included to and from IOP groups via Uber Health. The group program takes place three days each week for three hours each day and the average program participation is 10 weeks. IOP group curriculum includes topics like:

  • Relapse prevention skills
  • Emotion/anger management skills
  • Stress management techniques
  • Mindfulness/relaxation
  • Domestic violence
  • Parenting skills
  • Health and nutrition education
  • Co-dependency issues
  • Trauma Recovery and Empowerment
Early Intervention Outpatient

Services provided at this level of care are appropriate for those who have completed our Intensive Outpatient Program, as well as women in long-term recovery. Outpatient treatment offers continued support and connection for those who would benefit from ongoing treatment. Outpatient services include:

  • Individual, group and family therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation, if needed
  • Medication management
  • Drug and alcohol screens
  • Case management
  • Aftercare planning
