Our Mission
Our History

From our start as the Family Service Bureau of Norwalk in 1942,
FCA has been providing family support to the community for over 80 years.

A Solution for Families in Need
A Solution for Families in Need

Family Service Bureau of Norwalk opened its doors, providing counseling and support to women and families of U.S. soldiers who were coping with the stress and separation of war.

Response to Changing Needs

Proactively responding to the changing needs of the community, the Homemaker Health Aide Program was introduced and continued to grow into what is now the Agency’s Senior Services program.

Agency Expansion

Continuing to meet the growing needs of the community, the Agency created programs to promote family guidance including the mentoring program Project Friendship, and added our Adoption Program.

A Staple in the Community

More programs, activities, and rejuvenation continued within the Agency. The addition of the Agency’s international adoption program, Community Connections program supporting adults experiencing homelessness, and ties with Wilton’s Minks to Sinks organization were all successful Agency milestones.

Project REWARD

Continuing the work of strengthening families, more agency programs were created: Project REWARD supporting women with substance use disorders, Specialized Foster Care, additions to our Senior Services, and the Agency re-brand to Family & Children’s Agency.

A Country in Need

The Agency was designated as lead organization to provide outreach and support services to local families of 9/11 victims.

Honoring Volunteers
Honoring Volunteers

As an agency first, individuals in the community who supported and contributed to the Agency’s mission were honored with the Family Strengthening and Anne C. Cary Volunteerism Award. More than a dozen men and women have been acknowledged for this annual honor.

Building Better Lives

More than 75 years after opening it’s doors, Family & Children’s Agency continues to work diligently, building better lives for children, families, adults, and seniors in our community.
