Volunteer Appreciation Month: Banji

Apr 18, 2023 | Volunteers

Banji joined FCA’s Junior Board of Advisors in 2014 and immediately became an active member.

“It felt like a way that I could make an impact more directly,” said Banji.

He has certainly made an impact! Over the years, Banji has helped at the groups’ fundraising events like Painting with a Purpose, A Taste of Fairfield County, the Diaper Drive, and Cycling for the Community. He gives hours of time twice each year to help set up at the Minks to Sinks sale. He has secured ice cream donations and volunteered with the JBA to host ice cream parties for clients. He and his wife, Kristi, a former JBA member, brought fresh fruit each month to clients experiencing homelessness, collected and donated hygiene products for clients, and donated items to our ASPIRE after-school program’s school store. They have also donated a beautiful raffle basket for our Foster Care parent appreciation events.

One event that stands out in Banji’s memory was volunteering at an event to do face painting for kids. He specifically remembers how happy his Spiderman face-paint made one little boy.

Banji stepped into a leadership role, becoming Vice-Chair of the JBA in 2016 and Chair in 2017.

“FCA does really good work. Every time I go to one of the big events and hear what the staff does it’s really inspiring. Being a small part of what the organization does makes me feel like I’m helping to move things in the right direction,” he said.

Thank you so much, Banji, for your dedication and commitment to FCA. You’ve made such an impact on the Agency and our clients!
