“It’s always been in my blood to give back,” said Rich Manz, Vice President at General Reinsurance Corporation (Gen Re).
Gen Re has supported Family & Children’s Agency financially for more than 27 years, and expanded to sponsor and volunteer at the Agency in 2007. Over the past 11 years, Gen Re has been involved with gatherings for five different programs. Currently, Gen Re sponsors and volunteers at the Foster Care summer party and the Child & Family Development holiday party, celebrating with more than 500 clients each year.
“We want to make the day special for people,” said Rich. In addition to helping to fulfill Gen Re’s corporation social responsibility goals, volunteering creates excitement for employees and is a team-building exercise. “We are all equal when we volunteer,” said Rich, who noted that the workforce at Gen Re includes diverse ages and life stages, and volunteering helps bring people together who may otherwise not interact.
In addition to special events, Gen Re participates in FCA’s Sponsor a Family Holiday Gift Giving Program and gives more than 150 presents to clients each year.
“It touches your heart, because you know for some of these kids it could be their only gift or party,” said Rich.
