National Volunteer Month: FactSet

Apr 16, 2020 | Volunteers

April is National Volunteer Month and we are highlighting some of the dedicated volunteers who give their time and talents to Family & Children’s Agency (FCA). Today we are focusing on FactSet, a global provider of integrated financial information, analytical applications, and industry-leading service headquartered in Norwalk.

FactSet has been a generous supporter of FCA for more than 12 years! Throughout this time the company and their employees have supported numerous aspects of our work including our youth programming, seasonal collection drives, and fundraising events. Each year, FactSet employees collect diapers, backpacks, and school supplies for those in need. In addition, their employees supplied needed items to more than 10 families each holiday season as part of our former Sponsor a Family holiday program, and donated more than 150 essential items to last year’s Holiday Bazaar, an opportunity for our clients to “shop” for free items they need for themselves or want to give as gifts. FactSet staff even volunteered at the bazaar, helping clients find the items they need and providing snacks and gift wrapping.

Recently, FactSet staff volunteered at FCA’s ASPIRE after-school program, teaching a 6-week coding elective for students. In the future, we look forward to students in our program participating in FactSet’s new Technovation program, which aims to engage young women in creating technology to address important issues in the community.

“Giving back to our communities is part of the FactSet culture.,” said Lisa Gleason, Senior Corporate Responsibility Manager at FactSet.

In order to make giving back to the community as easy as possible for their staff, FactSet has more than 150 employees in 26 locations who volunteer on Corporate Social Responsibility committees, and staff are encouraged to volunteer at least eight hours each year.

The impact their help makes is what keeps FactSet coming back to FCA.

“FCA is a leader in strengthening the community, so whether it’s working one on one with students or helping at the holiday bazaar, we know that we are providing skills or items that people need to live healthy and fulfilled lives. We are proud to partner with FCA to make a difference in our community,” said Lisa.

In addition to contributing to the community, volunteer opportunities help FactSet staff by uniting employees with a common goal and encouraging them to work with those they may not otherwise have the opportunity to collaborate with.

We at FCA are deeply grateful for FactSet’s commitment to our mission and their generous support of our efforts. Thank you!
