16 foster homes before the age of 7. Feelings of abandonment and instability leading to verbal and physical outbursts. Then finally, one foster family willing to work through a young girl’s trauma to make her biggest wish come true – a forever family.

Bruni’s story is one of hope — she could have just as easily fallen through the cracks of the foster care system. Her journey included hospitalizations and suspensions from school before she was transferred to Family & Children’s Agency (FCA)’s specialized foster care program. There, she received intensive clinical therapy, case management support, medication management, and community programming while we worked to pair her with a family who could best serve her needs.
FCA didn’t stop there. We also provided support to her foster family in the form of education and weekend respite care, so their needs were met too. Together, we created a stable and permanent environment, one in which Bruni would thrive.
Today, Bruni is 12, finally experiencing the permanence and stability she always desired. “I’m very grateful to be here,” shares Bruni.“FCA did a lot of things to help me grow in this house.”

We stabilize adults by providing mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, and supportive housing services — so they can start a more stable next chapter of their lives. And for seniors, we provide homemakers, companions, and social work services — so they can age with dignity.
Our legacy spans more than 80 years, yet there’s still so much more we can do for our community.
