Graduate Spotlight: Jerhommy

Aug 12, 2021 | ASPIRE

Have you been following along our features of some of the high school grads in our ASPIRE and Foster Care program We love sharing their stories with you. Today, meet Jerhommy.

Jerhommy describes himself as a people person, a character trait that will serve him well as he studies to become a nurse at Porter and Chester. “It’s perfect for me,” he said, citing job security, good salary, and the ability to help people as benefits to the career. He worked hard to get where he is. “Personal stuff was going on,” he said. “I was bringing that to school with me. It took a toll. I had to refocus myself.” He credits his school, his mom, his girlfriend, and Family & Children’s Agency (FCA) with helping him get back on track.

Jerhommy has been in FCA’s Foster Care program for four years, and said participating in FCA events was a benefit of the program and helped encourage him to stay on the right path. Meeting other young people in foster care who could relate to each other and comfort each other made him feel like part of an FCA family.

He said he’s nervous and excited to start college, but always willing to learn. We think he will do great things.

Congratulations, Jerhommy!
