Gender-based Youth Programs

Girls Challenge is an all-girls group that meets every Friday after school during the academic year at Norwalk Community College. The mission of Girls Challenge is to help girls develop into confident, informed, eager and effective young leaders.  Girls Challenge targets adolescent girls and helps them learn and develop the skills they need to become empowered and self-reliant women.   The program accomplishes its goal by incorporating workshops, activities, group discussion, guest speakers, community service and field trips into the weekly program.  Topics that are explored each year include self-care, interpersonal relationships, and careers.

Who can participate:
• A select group of Norwalk girls ages 11-14, who can commit to a weekly program for the academic year
•Girls who have demonstrated leadership skills
•Girls who are striving to be the best they can be
•Girls who are looking to forge close friendships with other females
