The Respite Care program is designed to give parents and their children positive time apart, especially in cases where parents may be overwhelmed by their child’s difficult behavior. The purpose of the program is to provide parents with a break from the daily demands of parents children with special needs.
How does Respite Care work?
Families must be referred by their Systems of Care (SOC) worker to be eligible for the program. Once accepted, a Respite Care provider will typically be assigned to work with your family for a total of 45 hours over approximately a three-month period.
All providers are closely supervised by the Respite Coordinator and the Director of Foster Care.
