| Adopting from within The United States |
|
Family & Children's Agency, Inc. has been placing children, born in the United States, with families since 1942. If you are a Connecticut or NY resident and have completed a homestudy with FCA, two domestic placement programs are open to you. The Agency Placement option is our most traditional program in which birth parents release their infant to FCA for the purpose of adoption. We'll help you put together a personal adoption profile that will help a pregnant woman considering adoption learn a little about you. The birthparent will be shown your adoption profile as she works with our counselors to plan adoption for her baby. FCA's program reflects current adoption thought, which maximizes the participation of the adoptive parents and the birthparent in decision-making. We believe that a waiting list is not responsive to the needs of birthparents, adoptive parents or the child. For more information about "open" and "closed" adoptions and choosing a birthmother, please click Frequently Asked Questions. Our adoption social workers and birthparent counselors work closely with prospective adoptive parents and the birthparents to: • answer questions about a face-to-face meeting • facilitate the exchange of information at a level comfortable for you • arrange interim care if needed • arrange for the baby's placement into the adoptive home • provides a comprehensive program of services to birth parents. Meeting the birth mother's needs (through medical care, insurance assistance and counseling) is our first priority. Ultimately these services meet the needs of the child and adoptive families as well. Program Details
