If you are pregnant and considering adoption as one of your options, the adoption staff at FCA (Family & Children's Agency) can help you think about all of your choices without feeling pressured to make any specific decision. This service is available at no charge.
If you decide to make an adoption plan, we can help you obtain the resources you will need, such as: |
| |
You can tell us what you are looking for in an adoptive family for your child, and we will help to find the right family. You'll want to consider lifestyle, location, religion, personalities, interests and whether there are other children in the family. You can also decide whether you want to meet the family, and how much information you want to share with them.
Coming to terms with your feelings about adoption is an important personal process. You may want to continue counseling for awhile after you have given birth. You may want to receive a letter and photos of the baby from time to time. Most adoptive parents are comfortable and happy to let you know that the plan you made for your child is successful.
Our social workers work as a team to balance and protect the rights of the birthparents, the adoptive parents and the child. At FCA, we view adoption as a life-long process, and we're committed to helping you find the solution and support you need.
